Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what size tractor I need?
The right tractor size comes down to three things: your acreage, your terrain, and what you plan to do with it.
For properties under 5 acres with basic needs like mowing and light hauling, a compact utility tractor in the 25–45 HP range is usually the right fit. If you're working 5–20 acres, running loader work, tilling, or managing a hobby farm, you'll want to look at 45–75 HP. Larger properties or more demanding jobs like hay production or heavy grading typically call for 75 HP and above.
Beyond horsepower, consider your attachments — a front loader, finish mower, box blade and tiller all have different power requirements, and some need a mid or rear PTO to function properly. Terrain matters too: hilly or wooded properties in New Hampshire benefit from 4WD and a lower center of gravity.
The best way to get it right is to talk to someone who knows the equipment — stop in or call us at 603-841-5931.

How often should my equipment be serviced?
Regular service keeps your equipment running longer and helps avoid costly repairs down the road. Service intervals vary by brand and model, but here are general guidelines:
For tractors, plan on an oil and filter change every 100–200 hours of use, or at least once a year. Grease fittings, air filters, and fluid levels should be checked more frequently during heavy use.
Zero-turn and walk-behind mowers typically need a full service once a season — blade sharpening or replacement, belt inspection, oil change, air filter, and spark plug check. Commercial equipment run daily benefits from mid-season service too.
For handheld equipment like trimmers and blowers, clean the air filter regularly, check the fuel system each season, and replace spark plugs annually.
If you're unsure, check your owner's manual for the manufacturer's recommended intervals — and if it's been over a year since your equipment was looked at, it's time for a checkup. Call 603-841-5931 to schedule your next service appointment.
